Welcome Fylde Bonsai Association

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

You may have noticed our website has undergone a radical facelift! Over the next months we hope to update the site further with regular updates and stories from our meetings, including in depth case studies of work carried out during meeting such as repotting and styling. Over time, this will help create an in depth knowledge base for beginners and experts to learn new skills.

The group consists of beginners and veterans of bonsai alike. Meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, why not pop down and see us and learn more about the art of bonsai over a friendly cup of tea?

We meet at the

Ansdell Institute & Social Club

Fylde Bonsai Association History

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

Fylde Bonsai Association’s first meeting was held at Lytham Library
in January 1994. Those present had visited Wyndcote Bonsai wher the idea
was first suggested. Our aims are;-

1. To promote a public interest in the art of Bonsai.
2. To provide a venue for Bonsai enthusiasts.
3. To create a friendly, helpful and thought provoking atmosphere in
which Bonsai creating skills.

The Clubs aims are fulfilled through monthly meetings, now held at
the
Institute in Ansdel, Lytham St. Annes. They consist mainly of
workshops for members and talks and demonstrations. The speakers have
included internationally known bonsai artists, speakers from other Bonsai
clubs and our own members.

Membership has varied from 50, which made workshops difficult to 6
and is currently 15. Skills range from none to accomplished. New
members are encouraged to participate from the start and often come up
with suggestions that more experienced members had not thought of. New
members are encouraged “TO DO”

The Club holds an annual Bonsai show, a “Tree of the Month” award and
occasionally displays their bonsai at local garden centres.
